Pre-Assembly Preparation

Required Tools (most parts included in the kit)

  • Phillips screwdriver (provided)
  • Medium CA glue / epoxy adhesive (not included)
  • Sandpaper, hobby knife
  • Your own: RC receiver, 3S LiPo battery (2200�C2600mAh 25C recommended), RC transmitter
    All servo horns, pushrods, control horns come with the PNP kit.
PNP Note: Motor, ESC, 4 servos and main wiring harness are pre-installed at the factory. You only assemble airframe parts, connect the receiver and adjust control surfaces.

Step 1: Fuselage & Empennage Assembly

  1. The fuselage is split into left and right halves; all holes for internal servos and ESC are pre-drilled.
  2. Install horizontal stabilizer: insert it into the rear slot of the fuselage. Apply a little CA glue to the joint, keep it perfectly level and perpendicular to the fuselage centerline. Hold for 2�C3 minutes until glue dries.
  3. Mount vertical stabilizer: insert it into the groove on the horizontal stabilizer, align the centerline, glue and keep perfectly vertical.
  4. Install tail wheel: insert the tail wheel assembly into the rear bottom hole of the fuselage and fasten with the supplied screw. Connect its pushrod to the pre-installed rudder servo inside the fuselage.

Step 2: Wing Assembly (detachable left/right wings)

This model uses a carbon fiber wing joiner to connect two separate wings:
  1. Apply a small amount of CA glue to both ends of the carbon joiner tube, insert half into the right wing root first.
  2. Slide the left wing onto the joiner slowly, ensure both wings are perfectly flat without upward/downward deflection. Keep stable for 5 minutes until glue fully cures.
  3. Place the assembled wing onto the wing saddle on top of the fuselage, tighten the two aluminum locking bolts to fix the wing.
  4. Connect wing servo wires: the pre-led extension wires from the wing root plug into the marked sockets (Left Aileron / Right Aileron) on the main harness inside the fuselage. The plugs are polarized; do not force them.

Step 3: Control Horns & Pushrod Setup

Four control surfaces: Rudder, Elevator, Left Aileron, Right Aileron (servos pre-installed)
  1. Screw control horns onto rudder, elevator and two ailerons with included screws.
  2. Attach servo arms to the four internal servos (rudder, elevator, two aileron servos). Use the middle hole on the servo arm for standard control travel.
  3. Install metal pushrods:
    • Rudder pushrod: rudder servo �� rudder control horn
    • Elevator pushrod: elevator servo �� elevator horn
    • Independent pushrods for left and right ailerons
  4. Adjust pushrod length: make all control surfaces stay neutral when the servo arm is at a 90�� right angle. This is essential for radio trim later.

Step 4: Nose Cowling, Propeller & Spinner Installation

  1. The brushless outrunner motor is already fixed on the motor mount; check the motor shaft runs straight with no wobble.
  2. Assemble the two-piece plastic cowling around the motor, secure with 4 small screws, center it around the spinner evenly.
  3. Install propeller and spinner:
    Tighten the prop nut �� install tractor propeller �� mount the spinner cone and fasten the front nut. Ensure the propeller rotates freely and does not hit the cowling.

Step 5: Receiver Wiring (Key PNP Procedure)

Standard channel assignment (Futaba/JR compatible):
Channel Function
CH1 Aileron
CH2 Elevator
CH3 Throttle (ESC)
CH4 Rudder
  1. Fix your receiver inside the fuselage with foam double-sided tape to reduce vibration.
  2. Plug the main wiring harness into the receiver following the channel table above.
  3. Extend receiver antennas outside the fuselage, arrange them vertically and horizontally separately to avoid signal interference; fix to fuselage sides with tape.
  4. The battery compartment is at the front bottom fuselage behind the motor mount. Fasten your 3S LiPo battery with the supplied battery strap.

Step 6: Pre-flight Inspection & Radio Setup (Mandatory before flying)

  1. Turn on your transmitter first, then plug the flight battery into the ESC.
  2. Check control movement:
    Aileron stick �� left/right ailerons move opposite; elevator stick moves elevator up and down; rudder stick controls rudder swing; throttle stick adjusts motor speed smoothly.
  3. If any surface moves in the wrong direction, use the servo reverse function on your transmitter to correct the corresponding channel.
  4. Factory recommended control rates:
    • Aileron: Low rate 30%, High rate 60%
    • Elevator: Low rate 25%, High rate 50%
    • Rudder: Low rate 40%, High rate 70%
  5. Ground throttle test: slowly increase throttle and confirm the motor pulls forward correctly. If rotation direction is wrong, swap any two of the three motor wires between ESC and motor.

Step 7: Final Scale Details Installation

Install optional scale parts: exhaust pipes, air intake covers. The canopy uses magnetic fixation; just place it into the fuselage slot. Use a little double-sided tape if it is loose.

Important Assembly Tips

  1. This low-wing warbird may need additional nose weight if it pitches up easily; add small lead weights inside the cowling if necessary.
  2. Allow all glued joints to cure completely before moving the wings and tail surfaces.
  3. Do not disassemble the factory-installed servos inside the fuselage.
  4. Optimal battery: 3S 2200mAh 25C LiPo for this 850mm wingspan P-51D.
