Hello Every hobby friend:

has a good dream to fly, we want to fly too.
Today, the Engineer of arrows hobby company teach you How dose Arrows RC Servos Work with Arrows RC.
His name is Jack chen, the Engineer of arrows hobby company.

Arrows Hobby BAe Hawk 50mm Red Arrows EDF Jet Assembly Guide (PNP Version, AH020P / AH020PV Vector Gyro)

This plane is mostly pre-built factory EPO foam airframe, assembly only takes ~15 minutes.
Required supplies before starting
  • Foam-safe CA glue (DO NOT use normal 502/CA, it melts EPO foam)
  • Small Phillips screwdriver (for included KA2.012mm screws)
  • 3S LiPo battery: 1300C2200mAh 30C+, XT60 plug
  • 4CH+ transmitter + receiver (6CH recommended if you have Vector gyro version)

Step 1: Unbox & Inventory Check

Kit includes:
  1. Fuselage (pre-installed 50mm EDF, 2627 4500kV motor, 30A ESC, servos, wiring harness)
  2. One-piece main wing
  3. One-piece horizontal stabilizer (tailplane / elevator)
  4. Pushrod + clevis set
  5. Mounting screws (KA2.012)
  6. Battery hook & loop tape + battery strap
Check all wiring, servos, fan are undamaged. Do NOT power on the jet yet.

Step 2: Install Main Wing

  1. Feed the aileron servo Y-harness cable carefully through the fuselage wing slot. Do not pinch or crush wires.
  2. Slide the single-piece wing fully into the fuselage wing saddle, seat tightly.
  3. Secure wing with the included 2.012 screws.
Important: Do NOT over-tighten screws you will crack EPO foam.

Step 3: Mount Horizontal Stabilizer (Elevator Tailplane)

  1. Lightly sand the mating surfaces of fuselage rear & horizontal stabilizer for better glue adhesion.
  2. Apply thin bead of foam-safe CA glue to the tail joint.
  3. Push stabilizer into rear fuselage slot, keep perfectly level. Let glue fully cure (5C10 min).
  4. Attach metal elevator pushrod:
    • Connect clevis to elevator control horn
    • Secure the plastic clevis retaining tube to prevent popping off in flight

Step 4: Radio Receiver Wiring

Open cockpit battery hatch. The plane has a built-in servo harness board.
Standard receiver channel mapping:
  • CH1 Ailerons
  • CH2 Elevator
  • CH3 Throttle (EDF fan)
  • CH4 Spare (used for Vector gyro mode switch on PV version)
Tuck all loose wires neatly inside the cavity; avoid blocking battery compartment.
If you have Vector Stabilization (AH020PV): Follow Vector manual to assign flight mode switch on your transmitter.

Step 5: Battery Installation & CG Setup

  1. Stick loop side of hook-and-loop tape onto your LiPo battery.
  2. Place battery inside fuselage bay and fasten with integrated elastic strap.
  3. Critical Center of Gravity (CG): 60C70 mm back from wing leading edge
    • Move battery forward = nose heavier
    • Move battery backward = tail heavier
Rest jet on fingertips at CG point; slight nose-down balance is ideal for maiden flight.

Step 6: Control Surface Adjustment (Control Throws)

Recommended setup (maiden flight use LOW RATES!):
  • Low Rate
    Aileron: 8 mm
    Elevator: 8 mm
  • High Rate
    Aileron: 10 mm
    Elevator: 10 mm
Set all control surfaces to neutral (centered) at transmitter stick center. Adjust clevis position to trim neutral position.

Step 7: Full Pre-Flight Checklist

  1. Turn transmitter ON first, then connect LiPo battery to jet.
  2. Test all controls:
    • Right stick Ailerons
    • Left stick vertical Elevator
    • Left stick horizontal Throttle (EDF fan)
  3. Check elevator/ailerons move in correct direction; reverse channels in radio if backwards.
  4. Spin up EDF fan at low throttle confirm no rubbing inside the shroud.
  5. Check all glue joints, screws, clevises are secure.
  6. Double-check CG again before hand launch.

Important Safety & Build Tips

  1. Only foam-safe CA glue regular superglue dissolves EPO foam.
  2. This jet has no landing gear; it uses belly landing. Avoid scraping servo bottoms.
  3. Hand-launch only; launch firmly at slight upward angle with medium throttle.
  4. Do not run EDF fan on the ground for long debris can damage 11-blade fan.
  5. Unplug battery immediately after flying to prevent LiPo over-discharge.

1. Simplified Printable Assembly & Preflight Checklist

Assembly Steps

  1. Inventory all parts; inspect fan, wiring, servos for damage. Do NOT connect battery yet.
  2. Route aileron Y-cable through fuselage wing cutout, slide wing fully home, install mounting screws (do not over-tighten).
  3. Sand tail joint lightly, apply foam-safe CA glue, fit horizontal stabilizer, keep level. Allow glue to fully cure.
  4. Attach elevator pushrod + clevis; fit clevis retainer clip.
  5. Plug receiver into onboard harness:
    CH1 AileronCH2 ElevatorCH3 ThrottleCH4 Gyro Mode (PV version)
  6. Centre all transmitter sticks, adjust clevises so control surfaces sit neutral.
  7. Install battery strap & hook-loop tape. Set CG = 60C70 mm behind wing leading edge. Shift battery forward/aft to balance.

Recommended Control Throws (Maiden: LOW RATES)

  • Low rate: Aileron 8 mmElevator 8 mm
  • High rate: Aileron 10 mmElevator 10 mm

Pre-Flight Checklist (MANDATORY)

Transmitter switched ON first
Battery connected second
Verify all control directions correct; reverse channels if needed
Slowly advance throttle C confirm EDF fan runs without rubbing
Check all clevis clips secured, screws tight, glue joints solid
Recheck CG
Remove loose debris near fan intake
After flight: Disconnect LiPo immediately

Quick Critical Warnings

  • Standard 502 / regular CA melts EPO foam. Use foam-safe super glue only.
  • No landing gear C belly land. Avoid hard impacts on servos.
  • Hand launch only: Firm toss, slight climb angle, medium throttle.
  • Do not idle fan on ground for extended time; dirt damages fan blades.
