This model is PNP (Plug-N-Play), no glue required; all servos, 64mm 12-blade EDF fan, 2840-3150KV motor & 40A ESC are pre-installed in the factory.
Required extra items: 5+ channel radio + receiver, 4S 2200�C2700mAh 35C LiPo (XT60), LiPo charger.

Pre-Assembly Checklist

  1. Unpack all parts, inspect EPO foam for cracks, check all servo wiring, fan assembly, landing gear.
  2. Confirm parts: Fuselage, main wing assembly, horizontal stabilizers, vertical fin, canopy, wing spar, landing gear set, drop tanks, screws & plastic wing mount hardware.
  3. Tools needed: Small Phillips screwdriver (included), tape, hobby knife (optional).

Step 1: Main Wing Installation

  1. Slide the carbon wing spar through the fuselage wing tunnel and pass through both wing roots.
  2. Route the aileron + flap servo wires from each wing into the cockpit opening.
  3. Mate the wing roots tightly to the fuselage saddle. Fit the plastic locking brackets on top of the wing joint.
  4. Secure wings with the supplied screws.
  5. Connect wing servo Y-harness leads to the fuselage servo extension cables.
Do not force wires; avoid pinching servo cables between wing and fuselage.

Step 2: Horizontal Stabilizers (Elevators)

  1. Plug elevator servo connectors into the pre-run servo extension wires inside fuselage tail section.
  2. Slide each horizontal stabilizer into the dedicated slots on both sides of rear fuselage.
  3. Double-check no binding; surfaces must move freely full travel. No screws needed for horizontal tails.

Step 3: Vertical Stabilizer (Rudder Fin)

  1. Connect rudder servo plug to fuselage extension wire.
  2. Insert vertical fin into fuselage top rear slot.
  3. Secure firmly using the supplied screw at the base of vertical stabilizer.

Step 4: Landing Gear Installation

  1. Nose gear: Insert steerable nose landing gear into the fuselage bottom front slot, fasten with screw.
  2. Main landing gear:
    • Left & right main gears are NOT interchangeable �C match orientation to wing cutouts.
    • Insert gear assembly into wing slots, rotate 90�� to lock in place.
  3. Test steering: Nose gear links to rudder servo; confirm steering movement matches rudder input.

Step 5: Drop Tanks (Auxiliary Fuel Tanks)

Clip the scale drop tanks onto the dedicated mounting slots underneath each wing. They push-fit and do not require screws.

Step 6: Radio Receiver Wiring (Critical)

Wire receiver channels following standard mapping:
  • CH1 Ailerons
  • CH2 Elevator
  • CH3 Throttle (EDF Fan)
  • CH4 Rudder
  • CH6 Flaps
All servo leads are pre-terminated inside fuselage cockpit area. Secure receiver with double-sided foam tape inside cockpit; keep away from ESC/motor to reduce interference.

Step 7: Battery Installation

  1. Remove the cockpit/battery hatch.
  2. Fit hook-and-loop strap inside battery compartment.
  3. Install 4S LiPo battery (2200�C2700mAh). Slide battery forward/backward to tune CG.
  4. Secure battery tightly with strap �C loose battery will shift CG mid-flight!
Connector: XT60. Double-check polarity before plugging in.

Step 8: Transmitter Setup & ESC Arm Procedure

  1. Turn on transmitter first, throttle stick fully LOW.
  2. Connect flight battery to ESC.
  3. Listen for beep sequence: number of beeps = LiPo cell count (4 beeps for 4S). When beeping stops, ESC is armed.
  4. Test all control surfaces:
    • Ailerons: Roll left/right match stick
    • Elevator: Pull stick back �� elevator up
    • Rudder: Left stick �� nose left
    • Flaps: Confirm slow deployment/retraction
    • Throttle: Fan spins smoothly, no rubbing inside duct
If fan spins backwards: swap any two motor wires on the ESC to reverse rotation.

Step 9: Center of Gravity (CG �C Most Important!)

Recommended CG: 130�C140 mm back from wing leading edge at root
  • Balance the plane by supporting under the wing at this location.
  • Plane should hang slightly nose-down or level.
  • If tail-heavy: shift battery forward. If nose-heavy: move battery backward.
  • Do NOT fly outside this CG range; high risk of stall or unrecoverable dive.

Step 10: Final Pre-Flight Inspection

  1. Tighten all assembly screws (wings, vertical fin, landing gear).
  2. Check all control surfaces for binding.
  3. Check EDF fan: No foam debris inside duct; fan blades clear of casing.
  4. Check all wiring cannot be caught by moving control surfaces.
  5. Check landing gear tires secure.
  6. Set flight timer on radio to 4 minutes for first flights (conservative).

Pro Assembly & Flight Tips

  1. If you have the Vector stabilizer version, complete gyro calibration after all assembly finished (follow vector manual).
  2. Use foam-safe CA/hot glue only if you need foam repairs. Regular CA melts EPO foam.
  3. For grass fields: Leave drop tanks installed; they slightly protect wing undersides.
  4. Takeoff: Use medium throttle, keep straight with rudder; avoid over-rotating to prevent stall.
  5. First flight: Keep speed up, test flaps at altitude, do not attempt tight aerobatics until you verify handling.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • EDF fan rattles: Check for loose debris inside intake, confirm fan hub tight.
  • Servo jitter: Improve receiver antenna placement; separate receiver from ESC power wires.
  • Control binding: Check servo wires are not trapped between fuselage and wings/tail surfaces.

Important Pre-Maiden Rules

  1. Complete full assembly, servo direction test, CG balance (130�C140mm from wing leading edge root)
  2. Use 4S 2200�C2700mAh 35C+ LiPo
  3. Choose open, windless day; wind �� 8km/h (5mph) for first flight
  4. No aerobatics on maiden; prioritize checking flight trim and handling
  5. Set radio timer to 4 minutes; land immediately when timer alarms

Radio Recommended Settings

  • Expo: 20%�C30% on Aileron & Elevator (smoother low-speed handling)
  • Control travel (default factory setup works for maiden):
    • Aileron: 100%
    • Elevator: 100%
    • Rudder: 80% (too much rudder easily causes tip stall)
  • Flap setting:
    • Flaps Low: ~25% travel (takeoff flap)
    • Flaps Full: ~60% travel (landing flap)
If your radio has Gyro/Vector stabiliser: Start on low gain for maiden.

1. Ground Taxi Test (Do BEFORE Takeoff!)

  • Power on plane, slowly advance throttle
  • Test nose wheel steering: rudder input must steer smoothly
  • Check brakes (if equipped)
  • Taxi in straight line, practice gentle steering corrections
  • Check for unusual vibration from EDF fan
If pulling hard left/right on taxi: adjust nose gear alignment

2. Takeoff Procedure

Two options: Grass Takeoff / Paved Runway Takeoff

Step-by-Step Takeoff

  1. Line up into wind, straight runway
  2. Deploy TAKEOFF FLAPS (low flaps)
  3. Throttle: Slowly ramp up to ~75�C85%
  4. Use small rudder corrections to keep straight
  5. Once reaching flying speed: GENTLE elevator pull to lift off
    CRITICAL WARNING
    Do NOT yank elevator hard early! This jet stalls easily at low speed; early over-rotation causes crash.
  6. After lift-off: Climb gently, accelerate, gain safe altitude (minimum 50m)
  7. Once fast enough: Retract takeoff flaps

3. In-Flight Maiden Trim Routine

Climb to safe altitude first, fly parallel to wind
  1. Fly straight and level at medium throttle (~60�C70%)
  2. Adjust elevator trim to maintain level flight
  3. Adjust aileron trim to stop rolling
  4. Adjust rudder trim to prevent yaw drift
Write down trim values for future flights!

Maiden Flight Handling Notes

  • Maintain adequate airspeed at all times. This EDF jet bleeds speed quickly in turns.
  • Make wide, gentle turns; avoid tight sharp turns at low altitude.
  • Test slow flight at height: Reduce throttle slightly to see stall warning (wing wobble). If stall happens, add throttle and release back elevator immediately.
  • Do not try loops, rolls on first flight.

4. Flap Usage Guide

  • Takeoff Flaps (Low Flaps): Shorter takeoff roll, mild lift increase
  • Full Landing Flaps: Increases lift + drag, slows plane for landing
    Never deploy full flaps at high speed (can cause violent pitching)
    Rule: Only activate full flaps below 60% throttle and at safe altitude

5. Landing Sequence (Most Critical Phase)

  1. Position plane downwind leg, set up landing approach into wind
  2. Reduce throttle to ~30�C40%, let airspeed decrease
  3. Deploy full landing flaps
  4. Maintain slight power all the way to touchdown �� NO IDLE GLIDE
    This F86 will sink rapidly if you cut throttle completely!
  5. Keep nose slightly up, maintain steady descent
  6. Just before touch down: Very slight elevator input to flare
  7. Once wheels touch: Cut throttle fully, use rudder to stay straight
If coming in too fast: Go around! Add throttle, climb back up, re-attempt landing. Low-speed stall crash is the #1 failure for this model.

Emergency Situations

  1. Sudden loss of height / stall: Immediately apply full throttle, release back elevator
  2. Plane drifting far downwind: Avoid tight turns; fly gentle wide circuit to get back to runway
  3. Radio signal loss: Maintain line of sight, reduce manoeuvres

Post-Flight Checklist

  1. Unplug battery first, then turn off transmitter
  2. Inspect foam, landing gear, wiring for damage
  3. Check EDF fan for scrapes or debris
  4. Check LiPo voltage (do not drain below 3.65V per cell)
  5. Record trim settings and battery flight time
