Arrows Avanti 50mm EDF PNP Complete Assembly & Setup Guide
Important: This is a PNP version. EDF motor, ESC, all servos are pre-installed inside airframe. You need: 4-channel radio transmitter + receiver, 3S 1300mAh LiPo battery, foam-safe CA glue. If you have the Vector stabilized version, extra gyro calibration steps are included at the end.
Avanti fuselage internal wiring
1. Pre-Assembly Inspection
- Unpack all parts: Fuselage, main wing, horizontal stabilizer, small hardware bag (clevises, KA2.012mm screws).
- Visually check:
- 50mm 11-blade EDF fan inside fuselage (no cracks)
- All 3 servos (ailerons + elevator) pre-wired
- No damaged foam, loose wires
- Prepare foam-safe cyanoacrylate (CA glue). Normal CA will melt EPP foam!
2. Install Horizontal Stabilizer (Tailplane)
- Locate the slot at rear fuselage for horizontal stab.
- Apply thin foam-safe glue evenly on the mating surface of stabilizer.
- Slide horizontal stabilizer fully into fuselage slot; keep it perfectly level and centered.
- Wipe away squeezed glue immediately. Leave to cure fully (30+ minutes).
- After glue cures: Connect elevator pushrod clevis onto elevator control horn.
- First set your transmitter throttle/sticks to neutral before attaching clevis!
3. Main Wing Installation
- Feed the two aileron servo wires from the wing root through the opening into fuselage cavity.
- Seat the main wing firmly onto the fuselage saddle.
- Secure wing with four supplied KA2.012mm screws from underneath the fuselage. Do not over-tighten to avoid stripping foam.
- Inside fuselage: Plug the two aileron servo leads into the factory Y-harness.
Double-check wires are not pinched between wing and fuselage.
4. Radio Wiring (PNP Core Step)
Open battery hatch in front fuselage. A wiring terminal board comes pre-installed:

| Receiver Channel | Function |
|---|---|
| CH1 | Aileron |
| CH2 | Elevator |
| CH3 | Throttle (EDF Fan) |
| CH4 | Rudder (unused on this model; leave empty) |
- If you own Vector Gyro PNP model: Connect CH5 (AUX) for gyro mode switch.
- Tuck all loose wiring neatly into the rear cavity of battery compartment; avoid pinching when closing hatch.
5. Battery Recommendation & Installation
Official Spec: 3S 11.1V 1300mAh 30C LiPo
Battery compartment size: 1604040 mm
- Attach hook-and-loop tape to your LiPo battery.
- Slide battery into fuselage; use built-in elastic strap to secure firmly.
- Slide battery forward/backward to adjust CG (Center of Gravity). ? CG Reference: 60C65 mm back from leading edge of wing root (critical for stable flight).
6. Control Surface Setup & Recommended Throws
Set transmitter sticks to neutral before adjusting linkages.

| Surface | Low Rate (Maiden Flight Recommended) | High Rate | Expo Suggestion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elevator | 8 mm up / 8 mm down | 10 mm up/down | 25% |
| Ailerons | 7 mm up/down | 9 mm up/down | 30% |
- Check all control surfaces move freely, no binding.
- Verify direction:
- Right stick right right aileron up, left aileron down
- Right stick back elevator moves up
- Reverse channels in your radio if surfaces move backwards.
7. ESC Arm & EDF Test Procedure (Safety First!)
?? Always turn transmitter ON FIRST, then plug battery into plane.
- Transmitter throttle stick all the way LOW.
- Connect LiPo battery. Listen for ESC beep sequence:
- 3 beeps = ESC detects 3S battery ESC armed.
- Slowly advance throttle briefly to test EDF rotation.
If fan spins backwards: Swap any two of the three motor wires inside fuselage. ESC brake is factory OFF; keep brake disabled for EDF jets.
8. Pre-Flight Full Checklist
- Transmitter powered on, throttle at minimum.
- All control surfaces respond correctly, no binding.
- Wing screws tight, horizontal stabilizer fully cured.
- Battery secured, CG verified.
- Check all wiring is clear of EDF intake (no loose wires can be sucked into fan).
- Do a range test for your radio system.
Extra: Vector Stabilization Gyro Version Calibration
If your model is Avanti 50mm PNP-VEC (with Vector gyro)
- Transmitter ON, plane placed on completely flat level ground.
- Throttle down, plug battery in.
- Wait 5C8 seconds for gyro auto-calibration. Do NOT touch aircraft during calibration.
- Assign a switch on your radio to CH5 (AUX1) to toggle gyro OFF / Medium gain / High gain.
- Test gyro reaction: Tilt plane; control surfaces should oppose movement. If reversed, adjust gyro direction in radio settings.
Critical Safety Tips
- This jet is hand-launch only (no landing gear). Belly land on grass.
- Never run EDF fan without battery secured outdoors; intake is extremely dangerous.
- Only use 3S LiPo; 4S will overheat the stock 30A ESC and motor.
- Do maiden flight with low rates and light wind (<10km/h).
